Alex brings her experience as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional, and her empathy and knowledge as a sibling and future guardian of her brother James, to advising families of individuals with special needs. She has become a sought after speaker on the topic of building a Team to Carry On™, encouraging and guiding families to plan for when they are no longer able to do all they do for their loved one.

Alex began her career in financial services in 2009 and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, (CFP®), a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor, (CTFA), as well as holding her Series 6 and 7 registrations with LPL Financial, Series 66 securities registration held with both Shepherd Financial Partners, LLC and LPL Financial and accident and health insurance licenses. In 2013, she joined her father, John, at Shepherd Financial Partners. As well as building her own general wealth management practice, Alex is a key member of the Special Needs Financial Planning team, working with client families to educate and advise the next generation of family members.
Alex grew up in Melrose, Massachusetts with two younger brothers, one of with Down Syndrome. Inspired by her family’s leadership in advocacy, Alex is an active participant in several organizations and fundraisers designed to benefit individuals with disabilities. She is the President of the Massachusetts Guardianship Association (MGA) and is on the board of the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) local Citizens Advisory Board. The Department is devoted to creating, in partnership with others, innovative and genuine opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to participate and contribute to their communities as valued members.
Alex serves on the board of the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. In addition, she was selected to be a part of the DDS initiative in Creating a Common Wealth and is also a member of the AFAM Housing Task Force. Aside from community service, she enjoys traveling, experiencing different cultures, photography and spending time with her family.
